Escalera Árabe

Escalera Árabe

Escalera Arabe

The “Escalera Arabe” is the best known to the climbing community, as it winds along one of El Chorro’s most famous sport climbing areas: Las Frontales. It is also part of the most common route up Huma Peak. The location is spectacular, and as you climb up, the rock faces are left on the right and a beautiful view of the reservoirs on the left.

El Torcal
. A fascinating region where neither kilometers nor time count, because it seems to have stopped here. There is a shorter and a longer itinerary that I highly recommend. If you take your time, you can discover many things: ibex, vultures and strangely beautiful rock formations. Especially when there’s not much going on, it’s a fantastic place to simply switch off and let nature’s ingenuity work on you. Click here.

El Chorro

El Chorro

This route was once considered one of the most dangerous in the world. Today, the route is fully landscaped, and although it’s safer, one thing hasn’t changed: the unique sensation of walking on footbridges built over defiles over 100 meters high. The view is unforgettable. The Caminito del Rey route is spectacular from start to finish, as it winds through gorges, canyons and a large valley. It passes through the landscape of the Los Gaitanes gorge, a gorge carved out by the Guadalhorce River, with walls up to 700 meters deep. The area is also home to a large number of plant and animal species: if you’re lucky, you may spot mountain birds such as Egyptian vultures, griffon vultures and golden eagles, as well as wild boar and ibex.

To complete the Caminito, you need to buy tickets, which can be reserved on the official website. Click here.

Spending time in nature
Spending time in nature, contemplating natural landscapes, is a source of many benefits, the most frequently cited being improved self-esteem, resilience and sociability. But nature also stimulates the immune system. And studies show that marvelling at a natural setting can reduce inflammation in the body.

It’s also a great way to take a green break, to get a glimpse of nature, notice the flowers, plants and birds, and become more aware of our surroundings and the weather.

Observing the tranquility of nature encourages us to reproduce this state within ourselves.
