The town boasts a contemporary marina and, being located in the coastal mountains, enjoys a Mediterranean climate with around 325 days of sunshine a year. In addition to the 21 kilometers of white sandy beaches that make Estepona a popular vacation and beach destination in Spain, the town also has a rich history. Evidence suggests that the town has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Findings have also revealed that the area was occupied by the Romans for a time.
